We are living in the midst of a digital era. Technology can enable us to  automate  business processes using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and software rather than people, wherever possible. A technology for this purpose is Robotic Process Automation (RPA). RPA can have a transformative impact on organizations by lowering costs, increasing reliability, and executing quickly. It can also let IT and business people work together to implement and change automated processes promptly. Blue Prism is the most popular RPA tool.

Overview: Blue Prism was formed by a group of process automation experts in 2001. The Blue prism tool offers flow chart like designer with drag and drop feature to automate each step of the business processes. A Blue Prism training is essential for anyone looking to master automation. From IT professionals to engineers, automation is a helpful tool for many. Blue prism  enables business operations to be agile and cost effective through rapid automation of manual, rules based, back office administrative processes, reducing cost and improving accuracy by creating what is popularly known as a digital workforce. This  workforce is built by the operational teams or accredited Blue Prism partners using RPA technology to rapidly build and deploy automations through leveraging the presentation layer of existing enterprise applications. The automations are configured and managed within an IT governed framework and operating model which has been iteratively developed through numerous large scale and complex deployments. Blue Prism’s proven technology plays a key role in enabling organisations including.

Features: Following are the salient features of Blue Prism:-

  • Secure, scalable, and central management of a virtual workforce of software robots called ’bots’.

  • Complete automation solution that results in work distribution and queue management.

  • Blue prism has many robust features like load balancing, encryption, and audit. It also offers robots that are defined and managed centrally

  • Blue Prism comes with various types of spying modes for different application types

  • It has many improved features to configure Dashboards so that session information can be directed to external Analytics and monitoring systems

  • The latest version supports Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS cloud deployment patterns

  • Exception stages can be set to save a screen capture. When it is used in the production environment, this feature can resolve resource processing issues in a secure manner

  • Allows automation of  Excel, XML, csv, pdf, image, etc.

  • It does not make use of code.

  • It can automate software developed in Java, Mainframe, Web-based, Windows Applications

Working: To automate this process with Blue Prism, a developer or business analyst uses Object Studio to create a business object for each of the three applications. Each business object implements the same actions that a call center worker performs on this application. For example, the business object that interacts with the Windows application might contain a login action, an action that enters the customer’s name, another action that retrieves the customer code, and a logout Action. Once these objects have been created, a developer or business analyst uses Process Studio to graphically define the steps in the process. Each step can invoke actions in one or more business object.

Robotic Process Automation for the services industry is emerging as a major trend.

The technology is truly industry agnostic as the digital workforce tackles rules based administrative work.
