Looking to study in UK? But not sure where to start from? From selecting the course to study to make your student visa application, we have everything covered for you in this article. Universities in UK are revered as one of the most prestigious across the globe and the country's multicultural milieu acts as icing on the cake. To ensure that your dream to study in UK starts on the right foot, we have complied an all-encompassing article. Here are 5 steps you need to undertake to study in UK:   Selecting amongst universities in UK ·         Since the UK is home to a great many universities, it can become nerve-wracking to pick just one. Universities in UK offer a stupendous opportunity to students to ameliorate their skills, thus allowing them to develop to their full potential. ·         Make sure that your chosen program is best suited for you amongst the many courses in UK, not only research about the said course, but also compare it between different universities and see which is best suited to you. ·         Universities have a comprehensive website through which you can gather all the information, other than that, you can also interact with the delegates at Edwise overseas education fairs and gain assistance from our counsellors as well.   Making your Applications ·         If you are making an application for an undergraduate course in UK, your process is streamlined, since you have to do so through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). ·        On the other hand, since postgraduate courses in UK have varied entry requirements, their application process tends to be distinctive. For this, students have to check the individual university webpage to make applications. Receiving an Offer ·         Through UCAS it becomes simple to track the application status through the portal, anytime. In the case of postgraduate programs, students tend to receive an email regarding their Offer Letter. ·         The Offer Letter that students receive tend to be of two kinds, one is the Unconditional Offer Letter which states that you have managed to bag a place in the course. Another kind is the Conditional Offer Letter, which means that your place in the course is subject to certain requirements which are either language proficiency or academic scores. In some cases, students are also asked to come in for an interview.   Financials ·         When you make your application, the universities in UK themselves check if you are eligible for scholarships. Other than that, you need to make arrangements for financials required during the period of study in UK.   Student Visa ·         To be able to study in UK, as an international student you will be required to attain a student visa. The immigration route for students was altered by the British government on 5th Oct’2020. The Tier 4 route is now being called the Student Route. ·        The new points-based immigration system comprises students needing to highlight that they have an offer from an approved educational institution. They should be able to support themselves financially during their study in UK and must possess adequate English language proficiency. In totality, students need to attain 70 points to be able to get a student visa.   Once you have your acceptance and other documents in order, all that you are left to do is get packing. Destinations like the UK and the USA are welcoming international students provided they follow the quarantine norms. Student VisasRevered study destinations such as the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland to name a few are issuing student visas. Whilst these are subject to certain conditions, they can be viewed as a positive sign for the times ahead.Online CoursesIf you face any travel or application concerns, students are still permitted to commence their classes online. While this isn’t the ideal form of education for most, for the time being, it is the best alternative. The UK for instance is set to commence face-to-face teaching at some universities in Summer/Spring 2021. They also expect a full return to in-person classes by Autumn. Universities in Ireland on the other hand, are aiming to open campuses by September 2021. The autumn term at some universities in USA and universities in Canada is also expected to be in-person. These are positive signs for the times ahead and thus, students should commence their applications to study abroad in 2021 on a war footing.    The widespread Covid-19 pandemic has crippled the world. With the early onset of the pandemic, travel was banned, which in turn resulted in international study abroad suffering a blow. Towards the end of 2020 and start 2021, the Covid-19 vaccines presented a ray of hope. In India, the vaccine was made available to age groups of 18-44 towards the end of April.   Given the current scenario, some states in India are vaccinating this young age group. Unfortunately, some states, have exhausted their stock of vaccines, resulting in the vaccination drive being halted, for this particular age group. For students who need to be urgently vaccinated, this is a major concern as they need to be fully vaccinated before they travel for their education abroad.     In recent news, countries like the UK and USA announced that international students, who aren’t vaccinated prior, will be eligible for vaccinations abroad, enabling them to study on campus. This has brought a sense of relief to aspiring students, who may now travel to their study abroad destinations and receive their vaccine there.    United Kingdom:    In an attempt to tackle the pandemic, the UK has sped up its vaccination drive and has covered a large portion of its population, within a short period. They aim to bring some sense of normality back into a post-Covid world.    The country announced that arriving international students, will be given access to free vaccines, based on availability. In the UK, the vaccines that are currently available to students the Pfizer or BioNTech vaccines, sources claim. The UK Universities Minister, Michelle Donelan has confirmed that no charges will be applied to testing or the treatment of COVID-19, for students. She also brought to light the plans to welcome students to universities in UK in a staggered manner over five weeks. Accordingly, those enrolled on practical courses at universities in UK, will be arriving first, followed by students enrolled on other courses abroad.    To be on the safer side, students are advised to travel abroad, only after being fully vaccinated. By doing so, they may be able to avoid the 10-day mandatory quarantine that is imposed on those travelling from red-listed countries such as India. Once students arrive, if they are not fully vaccinated, they have to register on the NHS application, which will notify them once a dose becomes available.      United States of America:   With new-age groups becoming eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, inoculation of these young individuals has been ramped up with a focus on those enrolled to study abroad. A large number of universities in USA have been making it compulsory for aspiring students to be vaccinated for the Fall 2021 intake, before arriving on-campus.    Keeping up with new updates, the State University of New York and the City University of New York, have emphasized the rule that all students are required to be fully vaccinated before entering campus. Several universitiesin USA are said to be following suit and coming up with their mandates. Restaurants, bars, politicians and corporations are offering promotions to those who take their vaccine shots. For instance, free tickets to million-dollar lotteries, offering free food, alcohol, sporting tickets and more.    We at Edwise, as study overseas education consultants encourage students who are eligible to take the vaccine to do so as soon as possible. This will help students travel to their destination, and attend classes without any hassle. Contact Edwise for further information or clarifications.

Board Exams Postponed: How this affects students to study abroad plans

Every year, we witness an increase in the number of students aspiring to study abroad. Whilst the pandemic was a hurdle in these plans, it did not deter them from achieving their education abroad dreams. However, with the newly brought changes with the cancellation of the CBSE Class 10th examinations and Class 12th examinations postponement, students are left scouring for answers. Moreover, even the IB Board will grant Class 10th and 12th results from coursework marks and predicted grades. What does this mean for those students looking to make their applications for higher education abroad?Problems that the student may face Taking into account the well-being and health of students, the competent authorities have decided to postpone or cancel the exams. However, this leaves students with a dearth of time when it comes to preparing for university admission tests, and other profile enhancing activities. Those students looking to study undergraduate courses in USA may not be able to appear for the May SAT cycle and will instead have to appear for the August cycle. This added by the woes of getting application documentation in order. How will universities help? The majority of the universities abroad tend to also offer students with conditional offer letters. Therefore, based on the grades that the students have achieved to date, they will be able to secure conditional offer letters. Once the student appears for the exams and secures the requisite score, the university will then shift to offering them an unconditional offer letter. Students can expect their results to come by late July and early August and then appropriately make the plans ahead. Those students looking to study in USA, tend not to be affected so much since universities there tend to follow a direct unconditional offer letter system, that doesn’t offer paramount significance to academic grades. What does this mean for student visas? The process of obtaining a student visa has become challenging owing to the restrictions in place. For a regular Visa, the waiting period is of 3-6 weeks; with results arriving in August and Fall dates for many universities in mid-September, this persists a problem for students. Why students shouldn’t get worried? With minimal changes in the study in USA application process, the Indian board has ensured to take these steps keeping in mind that the future prospects of these students are not hampered. Since IB and IGCSE students appear for their examinations in May-July anyways, their admission process to study abroad stays unhindered. However, many students are worried that postponement means they don’t have enough time in their hands to work on other aspects of their profile. Students must utilize their time in hand to engage in community activities, Moreover, many colleges in India themselves are conducting activities to address these problems. With the postponement students also have time in hand to prepare for the university admission tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, GRE, GMAT, SATand ACT.Universities abroad are also aware of the situation and have relaxed their entry requirements addressing these concerns. As Overseas Education Consultants, we at Edwise encourage our students to remain calm. For solving any of your study abroad doubts, get in touch with us today.

The USA presents an amazing opportunity for students, who want to upgrade their existing skillsets with a strong focus on holistic development. As compared to other study destinations, the US offers programs that don’t burden students financially. Along with the tuition fees, there are a number of scholarships available that further help students pursuing their higher education in USA. Hence, the overall Study in USA cost is manageable and affordable. While looking at Study in USA for Indian students, there are a few factors that need to be taken into consideration to choose the university that is perfect for you. These factors will help narrow down your choices for universities and their programs respectively. 1.       Accreditation: An important factor that a student must take into consideration is the accreditation awarded to a university. Accreditation ensures that the education provided by institutions of higher education meets acceptable levels of education quality. A large number of universities in the US are accredited to a certain organization. Students of universities accredited are eligible to receive federal student aid or other federal benefits. 2.       Ranking: Rankings are another important factor to be considered as it shows the level at which the university is. Universities that rank best usually have amazing facilities and academics that sets them apart, however, it shouldn’t be the only factor to be considered while choosing a university. Rankings are subjective to quality, a combination of statistics or surveys by educators, scholars, students among others. In addition to rankings of institutions, there are also rankings of specific academic programs, departments, and schools. Rankings are conducted by magazines newspapers and in some instances, by academic practitioners. There is no official ranking system in the USA. 3.       Class sizeClass size may seem trivial but it is integral to the learning process. Smaller class size is in direct correlation with personalized attention for each student by the faculty.  Larger classes are also very effective as discussions and group activities are engaging and help build team building and teamwork skills among the students. 4.       Scholarships A scholarship, especially for international students, is very important. Scholarships help lighten the financial burden on students. Different universities offer a variety of scholarships that have their respective eligibility criteria and requirements to be fulfilled. For example, scholarships are awarded to students with either great academic rigor or exceptional scores in study abroad tests. Students are advised to check the same with their counselor or check the university website for more information.   5.       Faculty Faculty consists of people who have years of experience either in the field or as professors at a particular university. University faculties are trained in the field and deliver the content of the course flawlessly and enable students to engage in the coursework. Faculty members conduct research as well and some are awarded many accolades based on their work. The faculty members also act as mentors to students and guide them academically and professionally. Faculties are a prime factor to consider while choosing your ideal university.   6.       Curriculum Curriculum, in layman’s terms, is what a student studies at a particular university. While degrees and qualifications may be similar, often course curriculum differs from university to university. Students must pay close attention to the same and select the university and course that aligns with their professional goals and aspirations.   Study in the USA with assistance from Edwise.

Nearly, every imaginable individual has been affected by the adversary brought upon in the name of COVID-19. Especially those students who are graduating in 2020 have been significantly affected. Although the future may seem dim at this given time, it is important that students keep a positive mindset and have a deterministic approach. It is important to not lose faith and emerge victorious in the battle against the COVID-19. International students who are currently or considering pursuing education abroad are faced with concerns. Faced with a task at hand, international students have thousands of questions running through their minds. A significant part of these questions is related to jobs, internships, and visas. Jobs The main reason a student decides to study abroad is to benefit from the illustrious job opportunities and stay back possibilities offered. However, due to the current scenario, there exists an air of uncertainty. Some popular study destinations are ensuring that they still present students with alluring job prospects. For instance, the USA is actively seeking work from home student interns to drive its business activities. Moreover, the Canadian government has taken an excellent step to incorporate flexibility in the post-graduation work permit rules for international students. Those students who are commencing their Fall 2020 courses online can complete 50% of their program offshore. This will have no detrimental effects on a student’s post-graduation permits. Furthermore, the 2 years stay back opportunity offered by Ireland continues to remain intact. Internships Notably, popular study destinations such as Australia and New Zealand have undertaken several steps to provide international students with internship opportunities. Part-time health care workers in New Zealand are permitted to work beyond the permitted 20 hours per week. Apart from this, even those students working at supermarkets can put in the extra hours. It is important to note, that this said phenomena will not have a negative impact on the visa status of the students. Moreover, individuals are pushing for this trend to continue in the future as well. Since a considerable number of students have lost their jobs due to the on-going pandemic, the Australian state government of Victoria is offering international students AU$1,100 to support them through these tiring times. Not only this, but students can also access their accumulated retirement savings to combat the pandemic. Visa Student looking to re-enter to study in USA need to have the following document: ·         Valid I-20 with a valid travel signature ·         A valid passport that must be valid for 6 months beyond your expected return to the U.S. ·         Valid F-1 U.S. visa stamp ·         Proof of funding or financial evidence ·         Autumn 2020 class schedule showing courses ·         SEVIS I-901 Fee Receipt The government is granting visas to those outside Australia. This means, that when the borders are opened, those students with visas will be able to travel. Post-study work visas for students who are enrolled at universities in Australia will face relaxed entry requirements. Meaning, current as well as new students who are studying online due to the COVID-19, will have this duration counted towards their Australian Study Requirement. Those graduates affected by travel restrictions can apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa outside Australia. Students who held a student visa on or after 1 February 2020 and couldn’t complete their course within the validity due to COVID-19 will receive a waiver in the visa application fee. October 20th onwards, those DLI's that have an approved COVID-19 plan, can welcome international students. Before students decide to travel, they need to ensure that their institution's plan was approved prior to their travel plans. Therefore, it is important for the students to remember that there is light at the end of this tunnel. For the latest updates about higher education abroad, get in touch with Edwise today.
